I was given this incredibly gorgeous 1930s piano shawl, and the weaving was so delicate and lovely I had to share.
Piano shawls were used much as you would assume, to cover pianos and prevent knicks and scratches. They were very popular in the Victorian era, and are usually very elaborate. I read that the fringe helps the shawl drape over the piano, so thats why its added.
This one has a few holes in it, but I'm going to find a spot to display it where the holes are not as noticeable, and hopefully darn a few to help keep it intact.
