Staten Island Boat Graveyard, NY

Maybe one day soon I'll post some clothes on this blog, but the last month was much more focused on travel. I've got one more road trip post and then I can get to some fall photos. I've been buying all the sweaters at the thrift store.

After going to Dead Horse Bay my friend and I stopped at the Staten Island boat graveyard. Getting there was a pain, because we couldn't see any sort of clear path so we walked through a bunch of weeds.

It was pretty cool, though sort of spooky to be there. We walked out to this little tip of land to get a better look at the boats and turned around 2 minutes later to see that high tide was coming in and the ground was gone! We had to book it back to the road so we didn't get trapped. There was a tiny little graveyard next to it with 200 year old graves, but otherwise the area just had a nightclub, not a very nice location. Driving west from Staten Island you can see all the boats from the bridge, there were tons! A very cool place to take photos. We almost went on one of the boats but thankfully we didn't because we would have been very stuck. I love little stops like this when traveling, it always ends up being the most memorable.

  1. Gosh, these are amazing pictures! And I agree, a little spooky! I know its a boat graveyard but when I first read your post, I immediately thought of the elephant graveyard in The Lion King...

  2. Whoa, that's so neat! I've never seen anything like that before. I love old shipwrecks and such - they're fascinating.
