Close up: 1940s Gold Purse

I think any vintage enthusiast has seen their share of metal mesh bags. Whiting and Davis has been making mesh items since 1890, so there have been a lot of knock offs in the years! While I knew this bag was older, I figured it was just your standard knockoff. One look at the label inside the bag made this little item much more special to me though. It's funny how just a label can have that impact on a vintage item. The U.S Zone Germany means the bag was made when America occupied Germany, the dates for that are 1945 to 1949. It's always nice when you can date an item within a few years, since quite often you have to knowledgeably estimate the decade. I think for now I will hold onto this little bag!
